Still No Signature On Sundowns’ Striker Contract, Chiefs Watching?

A Mamelodi Sundowns striker has entered into the last year of his contract with the Brazilians, while there is still no signature on the player’s new deal.
Masandawana offered Leonardo Castro a new and improved deal that would see his stay extended until, at least, 2020.
Castro’s existing deal is set to expire at the end of the 2017/18 season, while the player is yet to make a decision about whether or not he will be committing his future to the CAF Champions League winners.
The player’s representative confirmed to Soccer Laduma last year that the reason why the player has still not signed the new contract which he agreed to in principle, was so that he could see if his family would be able to adapt to the new country before making a long-term decision.
“He also had an improved offer from Sundowns to extend his contract until 2020 but Castro decided to put it on hold until he can see if his family can adapt to the country,” Joao Betancourt told Soccer Laduma last year.
However, months later, indications are that the player is still unsure about his future at the Chloorkop-based club.
It was reported in January this year by two different Siya sources that Kaizer Chiefs were assessing the possibility of adding the Colombian striker to their books in the near future. However, Amakhosi subsequently acquired the signing Venezuelan striker, Gustavo Paez.  Although, having being linked to the player in the past, the Soweto giants will in no doubt be watching the player’s situation as he enters the last 12 months of his contract.
