Sangweni & Manyisa – The New Midfield Maestros?

Orlando Pirates signed Thamsanqa Sangweni to bolster their defensive midfield ahead of the 2017/18 season as the Buccaneers seek to get their ship sailing smoothly once again.
During the last campaign, Bucs had Oupa Manyisa, Issa Sarr and Abbubaker Mobara playing in the defensive mid role. Sangweni has been brought in to stir up the competition for a spot in the starting XI.
One supporter believes the acquisition of the Empangeni-born player will have an effect on Oupa Manyisa and will hopefully bring back the "Ace" that terrorised defenders.
"Thamsanqa Sangweni's arrival at Orlando Pirates has been seen by many as the solution to stabilise the shaky Buccaneers midfield, and 'Thami' has been tipped as the man to partner Oupa Manyisa in the midfield, pulling all the strings.
"The Buccaneers' midfield has never been solid since the departure of Andile Jali, who left the team for Oostende in Belgium, and since then, different combinations were unleashed but still no success thus far as we saw this current one of Manyisa and Sarr failing to form a rock-solid combo that could inspire the team.

"As a result, that left a very big hole in the heart of the Buccaneers' defence, with teams easily attacking and breaking Bucs right in the middle, as we saw the team conceding a lot of goals and at the other side failing to create and score some goals.
"However, ever since then, Manyisa is just a shadow of a player who used to terrorise teams with his silky touches, roaming in the field of play with confidence, knowing very well that he had a tried and tested partner, Andile Jali, alongside him.
