Modise on way back to Bucs?

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise could be without a club from next week if the Chloorkop side does not extend his contract.

And reports have linked him with a move to his former club, Orlando Pirates.

The 35-year-old reportedly opted not to travel with the Sundowns squad to Tunisia where Downs face Esperance in the CAF Champions League.

According to Sowetan, Modise’s agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane said Modise felt his contract situation with Sundowns was unclear. The contract is set to expire at the end of this month.

“Teko trained with the team and has been reporting for work as usual,” Mahlakgane told Sowetan.

“But he asked not to be taken to Tunisia because his contract situation is still unclear. Let’s say he gets injured there, who would take responsibility for him when his contract is up in two weeks?”

Mahlakgane said Downs were yet to exercise their one year extension option on Modise’s contract.

Modise has been rumoured to be keen to return to Pirates.
