Wits Destroyed Baroka 5-0 To Leapfrog Chiefs Into Top

The Clever Boys dominated proceedings from the onset and looked lively down the flanks with Elias Pelembe and Gabadinho Mhango.
Baroka should have gone ahead after 17 minutes, but Nyasha Munetsi somehow shot wide of the upright with only Darren Keet to beat from six-yards out.
Wits eventually took the lead on 30 minutes as Thulani Hlatshwayo headed Daine Klate's free-kick into the six-yard area, where Buhle Mkhzwanazi  was on hand to head home.
The hosts continued to dominate and doubled their lead in the 37th minute as Klate volleyed home his first goal of the season, after some good work by Mhango.
Gavin Hunt's charges controlled proceedings for the rest of the half, as they went into the breaking leading by two goals.
With Wits comfortably leading, Hunt opted to withdraw Granwald Scott for Xolani Mlambo midway through the second half.
The home side netted a third goal in the 74th minute as Mkhwanazi headed home Mhango's cross at the far post for his second goal of the night.
Wits bagged a fourth goal in the 84th minute as Nigerian winger, Ejike Uzoenyi rifled home from a tight angle to mark his debut with a goal.
The scoring was rounded off in stoppage time as Klate did well to pick out Phakamani Mahlambi, who controlled well before firing into the bottom corner, 5-0.

  1. Bad news for umbrella holders. Their wet dreams of winning the league have been shattered. Another empty season is looming.
