Platinum Stars defeated Uniao Desportiva do Songo 1-0 in their CAF Champions League

Platinum Stars secured a place in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup after beating Uniao Desportiva do Songo 1-0 in their second-leg, preliminary-round clash at Estadio do Zimpeto on Saturday.

Dikwena held a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg, where Robert N'gambi found the winner at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium last week.

Stars coach Cavin Johnson, who said they will be looking to go all to way and emulate the success of Mamelodi Sundowns in the continental competition this year, fielded a strong starting XI.

Vuyo Mere, Ndumiso Mabena and N'gambi formed a strong spine for the visitors as they managed to see out the tie in Maputo with a late goal.

The Premiership team will now meet Volcan club from the Comoros Islands or Ugandan outfit Vipers in the first round.
