Lionel Messi turns 29 today

Ahead of his third major final in three years with Argentina, Lionel Messicelebrated his 29th birthday on Friday, having already made his mark on the history of football.
During the 12 years since making his debut for club side Barcelona, Messi has developed into the finest player in the world and arguably of all time.
Added to his five Ballon d'Or's, eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues, Messi became his country's all time top goalscorer in the Copa America semi final against the United States, overtaking Gabriel Batistuta's impressive total of 54.
Having helped La Albiceleste to Olympic Gold in Beijing in 2008, when Argentina face Chile in a rerun of last year's final, it will be another opportunity for Messi to lift his first international trophy, after losing the 2014 World Cup final to Germany.
Regardless of whether he is able to guide his country to glory, Messi will remain revered the world over from now to years after his retirement.
