#Tinkler Must Fall

Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler is under no illusions that his team’s win against Kaizer Chiefs will relieve pressure on him.

Although the Buccaneers have reached the final of the Caf Confederation Cup, their domestic form has not been inspiring and fans have been calling for Tinkler’s head.

“The Tinkler Must Fall chants are down, but only for two days because we have another game coming. The pressure is always on,” said the former Bafana Bafana player.

An emphatic win against their biggest rivals will hopefully give the embattled mentor some breathing space. Pirates gave an inspired display and could have scored even more goals.

Bucs defender Issa Saar opened the Sea Robbers’ account when he headed in from a freekick in the first half, but Steve Komphela’s side were level only a few minutes later when Eric Mathoho responded with a header of his own to make it 1-1 going into the half-time break.

Ayanda Gcaba made it 2-1 to the visitors with another header before Thamsanqa Gabuza tapped in after some brilliant work down the left by Kermit Erasmus.

Tinkler revealed that his team have players capable of achieving great things, but said they need to believe more in themselves.

“You don’t become a bad team overnight. We played Al-Ahly, the biggest team on the continent and we beat them twice.

“We are not a bad side. The players know that and they need to keep that in mind. It’s always important to keep the momentum going,” said Tinkler.
