SSU Held By Aces Into goalless draw

Supersport United and Mpumalanga Black Aces could not be separated as they played out a goalless on Wednesday evening.

Both sides started the clash on a fairly positive note as they both had a few half-chances in the opening few minutes.

Sibusiso Masina came closest for AmaZayoni with a 13th minute effort that almost troubled Ronwen Williams in the hosts’ goals.

The visitors seemed to be taking slight control of the encounter, but not much could be done as chances were seemingly far and few in the first stanza.

Masina troubled Williams again five minutes after the restart, and Dove Wome responded with a solid strike five minutes later.

Wome started to look more and more threatening as he began to see more of the ball, and almost initiated a great goal when he spotted Bradley Grobler with a cross after the hour-mark.

Ten minutes later, Bryce Moon came close to grabbing the opener but had to watch his effort sail past the upright, and chances just dried up and the two sides withdrew to a more conservative approach as the full-time whistle loomed.

Nonetheless, the score remained locked at 0-0 at the full-time whistle, as both sides left the Lucas Moripe Staidum with a point.

Here is how they lined up:

SSU: 30. Williams, 5. Boxall, 25. Farmer, 33. Booysen, 22. Mpeta (Khumalo 81'), 18. Morton, 8. Furman, 19. Lakay, 16. Wome (Rambuwane 77'), 10. Nkhatha (Grobler 64'), 11. Brockie.

Aces: 31. Walters, 4. Kobola, 6. Hendricks, 12. Modiba, 22. Ngalo, 8. Masina, 26. Nodada (Moon 43'), 23. Matsi, 11. Ngoma (Moseamedi 57'), 22. Mbatha, 9. Mbesuma (Meyiwa 87')
