Pirates, Wits, SSU Join Chiefs In Rama Hunt

Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United are all believed to have joined Kaizer Chiefs in the hunt for Mamelodi Sundowns captain, Ramahlwe Mphahlele.

The Siya crew recently reported that the Amakhosi had submitted a contract offer to the 26-year-old full back after hearing that he was yet to commit to Masandawana, and it appears that they are not the only ones interested.

‘Rama’ will see his current contract at Chloorkop expire at the end of the season, and for reasons as yet unknown, he is yet to sign a new deal despite being given the captain’s armband at the start of the 2015/16 season and becoming an integral part of Pitso Mosimane’s side.

As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, it is thought that ‘Rama’ wants to stay at Sundowns and commit to a new deal, however if the club don’t speed things up then they may run the risk of losing a second captain in the space of two years after Alje Schut returned to Holland after the 2014/15 season.

The defender is able to open up talks with any interested parties after entering into the last six month’s of his contract, and should ‘Downs not tie him down shortly, Pirates, SuperSport, Wits and Chiefs may look to give him another alternative to Chloorkop.
