Pirates and Chiefs chasing Sibusiso Vilakazi

Bidvest Wits midfielder, Sibusiso Vilakazi, remains on the wishlist of both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, despite Mamelodi Sundowns being favourites to land him.

The 26-year-old’s future with the Clever Boys has been under constant scrutiny over the past three seasons, with the player’s Player and Footballer of the Season awards in 2013/14 making him one of the hottest properties in the country.

However, this season ‘Vila’ has battled with injuries and often left on Gavin Hunt’s bench – starting just 15 league games – though has managed to grab himself seven goals, just one short of his tally in 2013/14.

With the player having a contract until 2018, anyone wishing to land his signature will have to either stump up a hefty transfer fee or put together a tempting swap deal, however it does appear that – unlike in previous years – Wits will be open to offers.

As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Wits have told clubs to hold off their interest until the end of the season, however it could become a bidding war between Chiefs, Pirates and, the favourites to land him, Sundowns.
