Man Utd Sack LVG, Mourinho Announcement Imminent

According to widespread reports, Manchester United have sacked Louis van Gaal, with Jose Mourinho soon be announced as the club's new boss.

The Dutchman, who took over at Old Trafford after the 2014 FIFA World Cup, was fired with one year left on his contract, despite the Red Devils winning the FA Cup on Saturday, as reported by the Daily Mail and Sky Sports.

Van Gaal was relieved of his duties on Monday, and it has been reported that Mourinho could be announced as his former mentor's replacement as early as Monday evening.

The 64-year-old was in charge of 103 games at United, but failed in qualifying them for next season's UEFA Champions League.

In addition, he was heavily criticised for his defensive playing style, which saw his side score only one more league goal than 17th-placed Sunderland.
