Jomo Sono offers advice to Masibusane Zongo

Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono has some advice for Masibusane Zongo following his recent departure from Platinum Stars for alleged ill-discipline.

The playmaker has a history of falling foul of club management, and Sono says the 26-year-old must ultimately decide where his priorities lie.

"I have given you my opinion that he is good player but if he screws around I couldn’t help him," says Sono, who has previously expressed his admiration for Zongo's talent.

"Nobody else can help him and it’s he himself must help him, himself. It is up to him if he wants to enjoy life. There is one thing I always tell my players: beer, we were all born and we found our parents drinking beer… our grandparents were drinking beer, our great, great parents drinking utshwala (liquor) so you are competing with something that has been there forever and it won’t help you.

"Beer has been there for decades and you have only five or four years to play football and make money and enjoy it. But if you want to blow it and compete with beer. You know you go to the shebeen there is a lot of bottles there, you’ll never find the bottle falling… it’s a person that will drink, drink and fall and not the bottle.

"I tell them (my players) that bottle will stand there and tomorrow morning when you come it’s still there so you can’t compete with nice time… nice time has been there for all these years."

The skillful Zongo made 16 league appearances for Dikwena this season.
