Celtic Beat Platinum Stars In Five Goal Thriller

Despite taking the lead in the first half, Bloemfontein Celtic had to come from behind to beat Platinum Stars 3-2 in an Absa Premiership match at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Wednesday night.

Regardless of the loss, Platinum Stars are still in third place on the table on 47 points, a point above fourth placed Kaizer chiefs who drew 2-2 against Free State Stars also on Wednesday night.

The win for Celtic sees them jump up to tenth place with 35 points, but they have no chance of reaching the top eight as they trail ninth placed SuperSport United by four points.

Thapelo Morena opened the scoring on the night after turning home a pass from Lyle Lakay just before the half hour mark, 1-0.

Eleazar Rodgers restored parity four minutes into the second half after heading home a Vuyo Mere cross, 1-1.

Dikwena then took the lead in the 52ndminute thanks to powerfully struck 30-yard shot from Letladi Madubanya, 2-1.

Ten minutes later Lyle Lakay got Celtic back into the game after superb free-kick from just outside the box found the back of the net, 2-2.

In the 74thminute substitute Fiston Abduol Razak was on the field for only three minutes when he gave Celtic the lead after latching onto a pass from Lakay and turning it beyond the keeper, 3-2.

Vuyo Mere should have levelled matter sin the dying seconds of the game from the penalty spot, but he was thwarted by Patrick Tignyemb.
