Benteke scores in stoppage time to Deny Chelsea Victory At Anfield

Christian Benteke struck in stoppage time to earn Liverpool a point, as they drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Anfield.

The Reds got off to an encouraging start, but the Blues had John Obi Mikel and Baba Rahamn to thank, as the duo popped up with timely interceptions in the opening 15 minutes.

Simon Mignolet came to Liverpool's rescue in the 23rd minute, as the Belgian shot-stopper produced a fine save to deny Eden Hazard from the edge of the area.

However, Hazard was not to be denied in the 32nd minute, as the winger weaved his way to the edge of the box, before squeezing the ball into the far corner, 1-0.

The Blues nearly extended their lead just before the break, but Bertrand Traore failed to punish Mignolet's error in the box.

The Reds could have leveled matters after 60 minutes, but an un-marked Kolo Toure failed to get enough power on his header from six-yards out.

Mignolet had to be at his best after 70 minutes, as he produced another fine full-stretch save to deny Traore from the edge of the box.

With the Reds trailing, Jurgen Klopp opted to introduce Christian Benteke and Joe Allen for Lallana and Milner for the final 20 minutes.

It was the visitors who nearly doubled their advantage in the 89th minute. Hazard played Pedro through on goal, but the Spaniard failed to convert past Mignolet.

Chelsea were made to rue that miss, as the Reds clinched the equaliser in the first minute of stoppage time, as Benteke headed into an empty net, after some good work by Sheyi Ojo.
