Should Bafana Bafana lose the game today its over.

Shakes Mashaba's side currently find themselves in third place in Group M of Afcon qualification, with two points from three games, and will claim a maximum of 11 points if they win all of their remaining matches.

Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions – Group M's leaders – are sat on seven points, and Mauritania, who beat Bafana when the teams last met, are second with six points.

While Mashaba's chances of seeing his side qualify for Afcon in Gabon are slim, they are not yet mathematically impossible. However, that could change if other results go against them this evening.

Should Bafana lose to Cameroon in Durban tonight and Mauritania manage to beat Gambia, South Africa will no longer be able to finish second in Group M.

If Bafana draw, it will leave them with a possible maximum points haul of eight points, a tally Cameroon will already have reached themselves if the spoils are shared this evening.

The only result that would be favourable for Bafana tonight would be a win, although even that may not be enough as they would then need other results to go their way in the last two games in order to qualify.
