Lionel Messi Scores as Argentina beat Bolivia

Superstar Lionel Messi was on target in Argentina's 2-0 win over Bolivia in their FIFA World Cup qualifier on Wednesday morning, while Dani Alves salvaged a point for Brazil against Paraguay.

River Plate defender Gabriel Mercado gave the Albiceleste the lead after 20 minutes following some clever play from Messi and Gonzalo Higuain, which allowed the 29-year-old to fire home into an empty net.

The second strike came just 10 minutes later, after the referee awarded a penalty to Argentina following what appeared to be a clean challenge on Ever Banega in the box.

Despite his recent form from spot-kicks, Messi coolly slotted the ball in off the post, reaching the milestone of 50 international goals for his country.

Argentina saw the rest of the game out fairly comfortably, with the final score against the Bolivians being 2-0.
