Erasmus Scores hist First French Goal

Former Orlando Pirates striker, Kermit Erasmus, scored his first goal in France this weekend as he helped his Stade Rennais’ side win 5-0.

The 25-year-old forward is still waiting to make his debut in Ligue 1 following his move from the Buccaneers in January, with the club opting to allow him time to settle rather than throw him in the deep end.

Erasmus won’t have done his chances of proving to Rolland Courbis that he is finding his feet any harm after opening his account in Europe this weekend, delightfully chipping the ball over TA Rennes’ goalkeeper after beating the offside trap and breaking free.

Having received his clearance to make his debut for Rennes’ first team, Erasmus will now be eager to keep impressing in order to persuade Courbis that he is settled enough to make his first appearance.

Rennes face Caen on Sunday evening as they look to climb up the table, and Erasmus will be keen to see whether his goal in the reserves may have helped his push for a berth in their 18-man matchday squad.
