Could Orlando Pirates really get relegated this season?

Orlando Pirates are in the middle of a testing...and potentially historic...campaign.

While they have done the nation proud in continental competition, the Sea Robbers have barely set the local scene alight.

Eric Tinkler’s future has become the topic of conversation, with fans beginning to have doubts whether he can succeed in a job of this magnitude. In the Absa Premiership, Bucs find themselves one point from the bottom three but have a couple of games in hand. Fans want to see the situation change, and immediately so.

Few predicted that Bucs would be hovering just above the relegation zone at Christmas, and their name, a giant of the continental game, let alone domestic football, appears incongruous and out of place amidst the minnows and their fellow strugglers near the foot of the PSL.

Comparisons can be drawn with Chelsea, who themselves are also just lurking above the relegation zone, even as reigning Premier League champions.

Pirates, it seems, cannot both sustain a continental run and thrive at home; back during their Caf Champions League run to 2013, when they reached the final, Roger De Sa faced a similar situation to that which Tinkler is experiencing today.Looking back at their run to the Caf Champions league final in 2013, then mentor Roger De S.
a faced a similar predicament to that of Tinkler right now
