Tinkler's job is safe at pirates

The Sea Robbers lost 2-1 on aggregate to Etoile du Sahel in the final last weekend, the result that infuriated the majority of Bucs fans, who feel the 45-year-old mentor is not good enough for their team.

"Tinkler is not going anywhere. The entire team, including the management, is behind him," the source told Goal.

"He may have lost the [Caf Confederation Cup] final, but that doesn't make him a bad coach. He will be given a fair chance to turn things around in the league," added the source.

Tinkler, who took over from former coach Vladimir Vermezovic in 2014, still hasn't had a meeting with chairman Dr Irvin Khoza since arriving back from Tunisia last week.

Media reports suggested that Tinkler and Khoza will hold crunch talks to determine his future, but the source reveal that the coach's future is not up for discussion.

"No, there hasn't been a meeting between the chairman and coach Tinkler and even if there will be one, I don't think it will have anything to do with his future. He's been given the entire season to prove himself," concluded the source.
