Tinkler came with a lame reason for not using Majoro.

Orlando Pirates coach, Eric Tinkler, has given a bizarre reason for not using Lehlohonolo Majoro in Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup final loss to Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia.

Speaking to a SABC radio station on Monday night, Tinkler said he was hoping to use Majoro as an impact player when the game went into extra-time.

“I had made the two changes and it looked like we would get the goal… I thought to hang on to him so we can have fresh legs for the extra-time,” said Tinkler.

But Phakaaathi understands that the game would not have gone to extra-time even if Pirates had found the equaliser. It would have gone straight to penalties.

Tinkler is already under pressure, with some Pirates fans calling for his dismissal following the team’s failure to capture the continental trophy.
