Sundowns to extend Teko Modise's stay

Modise’s current contract with the Chloorkop-based outfit culminates in June 2016, however Downs do have the option to extend his stay until June 2017.

The veteran midfielder is likely to be retained by the Brazilians as he remains an integral member of the team, featuring in nine of the 10 league games so far this season.

A Siya source has revealed that Downs’ management have already informed the 32-year-old’s agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane, that they plan to take their option and extend Modise’s stay.

“Just like Nyasha Mushekwi, Teko had a one-plus-one option at Sundowns, which means that after the first year option the team still has another year to keep the player at the team,” the source indicated.

“They will engage with Jazzman next month and see how they can work things out, but Sundowns will exercise the one-year option at the end of the year."
