Filipe Ovono made good saves to keep Al Ahly empty-handed

Orlando Pirates head coach, Eric Tinkler, lead his charges to a 1-0 CAF Confederation Cup semi-final first leg win over favourites, Al Ahly, at Orlando stadium on Saturday night.
An early goal from Thamsanqa Gabuza put the Buccaneers in the driving seat and they could have scored more if they were a little clinical in the final third. The good thing for Bucs is the fact that, unlike in the last meeting between the two teams at Orlando – the CAF Champions League final first leg – the Egyptians left the field empty-handed as they couldn’t find the back of the net.
Filipe Ovono pulled off some good saves to keep the Egyptian giants at bay while Erasmus and Gabuza kept the pressure on their defence. Despite the good result, Tinkler will be disappointed by some of his players who just didn’t show up on the night. Ovono and out-of-favour central midfielder, Lehlogonolo Masalesa were two of the top performers while a number of players just didn’t show up.
Bucs need, at least, a draw in the second leg in order to go through to the finals.
Do you think the 1-0 win will be enough to see Bucs through to the finals?
