Orlando Pirates humiliated with 6-1 loss to SuperSport United, Muhsin Ertugral to resign

Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral says he will tender his resignation to club owner Dr Irvin Khoza on Wednesday in the wake of the humiliating 6-1 loss to SuperSport United in their Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday.
Pirates led 1-0 at the break but were ripped apart in the second period to record their joint worst ever defeat in the 80-year history of the club, matching a loss by the same margin to Mamelodi Sundowns in the BP Top 8 in 1990.
Khoza may be compelled to ask Ertugral to stay on, but the coach painted a bleak picture of his future with the team.
“I have no thoughts, after a result like that I am ashamed of the situation. For this badge, for this great club, I don’t have any words,” he told SuperSport TV.
“I have never seen a disastrous 45 minutes like that since I have coached.
“I can only speak to my chairman tomorrow and put my resignation in, because at the end of the day we are responsible for what has happened on the field. We don’t deserve to have that jersey of Orlando Pirates.”
Pirates are next in action at home to Highlands Park in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinals on Saturday
