Bafana Bafana all-time leading goalscorer Benni McCarthy has been appointed assistant coach of Belgian Premier League club Sint-Truidense (STVV).
Its about time Orlando Pirate grow and invest on coaching, Benni McCarthy is the only available young experienced individual we can develop. If you give him 5 years contract will produce better results in a long run, look at Sundowns.Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has confirmed Muhsin Ertugral has resigned as head coach of the club.
Ertugral indicated he would step down after Bucs' 6-1 humiliation at the hands of SuperSport United at Mbombela Stadium last night.
Khoza announced at a press conference today that he has accepted Ertugral's decision to quit Mayfair.
“We will have a meeting this afternoon to discuss a standby coach because there’s not much in the market,” Khoza told the gathered media.
“Internally we will ask one of our coaches to take over until December. I don’t want to say who it is because he might say no.
“Maybe we will ask one of our assistants, or maybe we will ask coach Augusto, we will only know this afternoon.
“But I guess if coach Augusto is available, he is the most senior coach we have, but there is too much in his hands because he is too much in development.
“But if he is available I think he will be the one we ask to take over the reins.”
The 37-year-old former Ajax Amsterdam, Celta Vigo, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United striker, who scored a record 32 goals for South Africa and won a Uefa Champions League gold medal with FC Porto in 2004, confirmed the news on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
