Brazil-Argentina World Cup qualifier postponed due to heavy rain

The CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina has been postponed due to heavy rain Buenos Aires.

The match has been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. ET.

The Argentina FA tweeted the news upon the announcement.

"The qualifying game is suspended due to intense rain. It will be played tomorrow at 21:00 at the Monumental," the tweet said.

"I wanted to play," said Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain. "It's a shame."

Argentina has experienced a poor start to their qualifying campaign after reaching the World Cup final in the 2014 edition in Brazil.

The Albiceleste have taken just one point from two games ahead of their clash with rival Brazil, and are without stars Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez.

The Selecao, for their part, are looking for their second consecutive win in qualifying, and will enjoy the return of star forward Neymar, who was suspended for the first two qualifiers for his actions during the 2015 Copa America.

Brazil has never missed a World Cup, and Argentina last missed out in 1970.
